Berlin, March 4, 2025 - For the first time, Berlin has a Design Action Plan! The report is based on the results of the Design Ecosystem Mapping Workshop, which took place at Berlin Partner's premises in December 2024. Around 30 experts from Berlin's design industry, science and business came together to shape the future of the design ecosystem - in three central work phases.
- Phase 1: Mapping the Berlin design ecosystem - identifying players and initiatives in the Berlin design landscape
- Phase 2: SWOT analysis - examining the strengths and weaknesses of the system
- Phase 3: Concrete measures and recommendations for action - development of feasible proposals
A central consensus of the workshop: The aim must be to improve the communication of design as a strategic tool for solving problems and challenges and to highlight the value of design for all sectors of the economy. The task now is to bundle the enormous potential of Berlin's design industry. The Design Action Plan should not only document the measures developed, but also provide a basis for further feedback. Keeping an eye on Berlin's 20th anniversary as a UNESCO City of Design, this is the perfect moment to redefine what design means for our city.
