Creating low-carbon cities is one of the key levers for tackling the climate crisis. Whilst many cities already pledged to reduce CO2 emissions, it remains unclear if those targets are reached or which measures would contribute most effectively. With the digital transformation underway and many AI-based technologies changing everyday life, there is an opportunity to explore how data-driven tools can contribute to actually reducing CO2 emissions.
Increasingly, cities are interested in unlocking the potential of digital technologies and tailor applications and connected services to their public sector needs. Steering the development of digital technologies, including AI, however, comes with a diverse set of questions:
- What are impactful applications of AI for low carbon urban planning?
- What kind of expertise do we need and who do we collaborate with?
- What data is required vs what data do we have?
- What kind of mindset do local governments need to adopt?
- What are first experiences and challenges in Berlin?
We invite you to explore these questions and more in an interactive gathering of pioneers and thought leaders at the nexus of AI, climate change and cities based in Berlin.
The event is an opportunity to debate various perspectives on opportunities, challenges, requirements and risks using AI in an urban climate change context. As such we will discuss current trends, exemplary applications and insights.
